Characteristics of Banana Leaves as Gaseous Biosorbent

چکیده

Abstract The quality of air is vital for our existence. Increasing industrial development and household activities will increase the risk pollution environmental damage. Some in ambient very toxic lethal. One method that can remove gaseous pollutants adsorption. Previous study about banana plant as adsorbent pollutant, leaves has highest adsorption efficiency value 76.52%. Purpose this to discuss characteristics potential adsorbent. This research was carried out by studying literature testing Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) leaf surface morphology. structural properties were characterized, which exhibited adsorbent’s porous or stomata. There are several studies SEM analysis results explain stomata able trap pollution. Banana contain lignin, cellulose, cuticle have been found be useful gas adsorbents. Based on these studies, it concluded an pollutants.

Study of Banana Peel (Musa sapientum) as a Cationic Biosorbent

The efficacy of the Banana peel (Musa sapientum) biomass was tested for the removal of lead, copper, zinc and nickel metal ions using batch experiments in single and binary metal solution under controlled experimental conditions. It is found that metal sorption increases when the equilibrium metal concentration rises. At highest experimental solution concentration used (150 mg/L), the removal o...

Rapid Changes in Transpiration in Banana Leaves.

Rapid changes in the transpiration rate from a leaf or leafy shoot as a result of excision of that leaf or shoot have been observed in many plants bv many investigators (1, 2, 5, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 16). In banana plants, both photosynthesis and transpiration have been found to change rapidly following excision of the leaf (7). The mechanism underlying such rapid changes in transpiration has bee...

Myxococcus xanthus biomass as biosorbent for lead.

This paper deals with lead biosorption by Myxococcus xanthus biomass in which dry biomass, accumulating up to 1.28 mmol of lead g(-1), is demonstrated to be a more efficient biosorbent than wet biomass. Dry biomass biosorption was found to be very rapid, reaching equilibrium after 5-10 min. Culture age, the initial lead concentration and pH affected this process, but temperature did not. Furthe...

Photosynthesis & transpiration from upper & lower surfaces of intact banana leaves.

The use of modern gas analysis instrumentation makes it possible to obtain continuous recordings of transpiration (3, 6, 8, 12, 13, 23) and photosynthesis (4, 5, 16, 19) from intact portions of higher plants. The high sensitivity and rapid response of these instruments permits one to determine rather subtle effects of various internal or environmental factors on physiological processes involvin...
